If you thought "Six of One A Tudor Riff" was the most fun you could have with your nightdress on, wait until you see what "Seven Will Out A Renaissance Revel" has in store for Tudors fans and Shakespeare and Marlowe conspiracy theorists. Get ready for one 'ruff' night!
Tudorphile Dolly thought that the night she spent on an astral plane with Henry VIII's six wives, learning their heretofore unknown secrets, was a one-time thing. Not so! In "Seven Will Out", Dolly finds herself back in the ether with the women of later Tudor times Elizabeth I, 'Bloody' Mary, Bess of Hardwick, Mary, Queen of Scots, and Anne Hathaway Shakespeare, to name a few. They too have secrets that will turn history on its head, and comic sass that will keep you laughing. And if that isn't enough, there is even a cameo appearance by Anne Boleyn.
You've read all of the traditional, serious and romantic takes on the legendary characters of the English Renaissance. Why not try your Tudors and your Shakespeare with a new and different twist?
Seven Will Out A Renaissance Revel edition by JoAnn Spears Literature Fiction eBooks
In Spears’ previous novel, Six of One: A Tudor Riff, modern day historian Catherine “Dolly” Rolly traveled to an astral plane where she met the wives of Henry VIII and learned their stories from the source. This time Dolly returns and is met by the later generation Tudors, including Elizabeth I, Mary Queen of Scots, Bess of Hardwick, and more. During her night of wine and conversation she learns quite a bit, as well as relaying some present day tidbits to the 16th century ladies. Focused on the authorship of Shakespeare’s works, this is an entertaining “what-if” for conspiracy theorists regarding the Bard’s plays, and contains subplots involving Arabella Stuart and, separately, the women involved with Robert Dudley. Dolly’s mission is to learn the truth of a few matters and use her position as a respected Tudorphile to enlighten posterity.Readers with a fair knowledge of Shakespeare’s works will more likely enjoy this as it contains a good amount of quotes and references, although the verbal tête-à-tête between characters usually includes enough of an explanation to read between the lines. I felt a bit at a disadvantage at first, for not having read the first book. There are many of Dolly’s family, friends, and co-workers introduced in the opening chapters that may have been featured in Six of One, but were information overload for readers just jumping in with Seven Will Out. A few short chapters in, however, and any Tudor fan feels right at home.
With its supernatural element and brow-raising, albeit fictional revelations, this will not appeal to all Shakespeare and Tudor enthusiasts (i.e. the purists). It is, however, a clever series of facts that fit together surprisingly neatly, and the laugh-out-loud quips and antics of the characters keep the reader otherwise entertained throughout the story. I highly recommend this book to light-hearted Tudor fans looking to step away from the plethora of traditional reads of the genre.

Seven Will Out A Renaissance Revel edition by JoAnn Spears Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed the first book in this series but didn't enjoy this one as much. The story seemed to be pretty much like the first one; girl passes out and wakes up in the Tudor era, has conversations with characters from that era and wakes up with a revelation. The first time was fun and new but this time was kind of been-there-done-that type of feeling, in my opinion. Interesting aspect of time travel but just didn't do it for me.
This sequel to Six of One a Tudor Riff, by Joann Spears is worth the wait. Just as entertaining and intelligent as the first. Even for those of us not overly interested in the time period well worth the read. The author gives interesting twists, perhaps unlikely, but not impossible, to the histories of the Tudor ladies and their gentlemen. You'll find yourself wanting it all to be true. I was enthralled. It kept me busy on a trip back to NJ from Arizona. It was a pleasant flight, made the more pleasant by the company of these Tudor ladies. And silly me, didn't get the entire subtlety of the title till I finished the book.
Oh my goodness! The story continues. As the sequel to Six of One this book does not skip a beat in continuing what happened to the Six Wives of Henry VIII and the following generation. I love the way our author transports our main character back to that Heavenly Castle to take on her next mission of setting history straight by the Tudor women. So much boring History comes actively alive in this book. What a great twist to the phrase "Girl Power"!
I recommend this book as a MUST read directly after Six of One!
My only disappointment in this piece of work is that I will have to wait for our author to write its sequel. Get busy Ms Spears, I cannot wat to read what happens next.
Yes! Yes! Yes, there is more! Okay, life and deadlines took me away from all things reading/blogging/reviewing for a while, so think of my delight when I found that JoAnn Spears had followed up Six with Seven while I had my focus elsewhere. Oh, the joy! And wow - what?? Per usual, she will have you chuckling and wishing for your own time slot in that tower, but she goes far beyond the funny and literally turns the literary world on its ear! Not only that, but her reasoning flawless, insightful in its reasoning, and impressive. Her knowledge of the many characters that populate the Tudor era and its surrounds is astounding and spot on!
I love to read a good book. When the threshold of "love" leaves me slack-jawed it MUST come to live with me in the real, touchable world. E-life on my just won't do. So, as after reading Six, I went back to and bought the solid, you'll-be-with-me-forever version.
Fun. Interesting. Brilliant. I want to get invited to the tower!! Again, extremely well done.
I received this book free from .
This author is a genius! I love Engish history and at first thought this was a time traveling novel but how wrong I was. The idea of having a castle in an alternate reality where Amy Rosbart, Lettice Knollys, Catherine DeMedici, Douglas Sheffeld, Bess Hardwick and her grand daughter Arabella plus a host of other Tudor royalty/nobility can hang out together is fabulous. Add to that mix an modern day history major and you have a great combination. I love the explanation of Amy's death. I love the idea that each of these women were somehow connected by more than just blood.
If there was one thing that bugged me though it's the authors constant use of the heroine's name when someone is talking to her! I'm sorry but most of us reading a book would know who the person was talking too without always constantly putting her name in the sentence. This is the only fault, I have with this book and one that can be easily corrected.
Other than that small problem...I LOVED this book. Unfortunately this book was offered for free from while the first book in the series wasn't. ( So next month I will order the first book and then highly anticipate the next one in the series.
